City Of Bones - Cassandra Clare

As I'd read the first two installments of The infernal devices series the first of the mortal instruments was a new reality to me, although the story line was quite similar. The main change for me was that one story is set in Victorian times, and the one I'm reviewing now is set in modern day. As the story's are both very similar when something happens in one series you think: Is that going to happen later on in the other series? Which can be very interesting, but some people won't want secrets unveiled and will stick to one series. I am not one of these people as I'd happily read either or both but my preference would be The infernal devices as I enjoyed the Victorian approach rather than modern day. This series is for older readers as the Victorian version can be read at a younger age.

7/10 It was good but took a while to get through.

The Periodic Table: A Field Guide to the Elements - Paul Parsons and Gail Dixon

The periodic table was originally thought in the early 1860's, as a way of organising new elements found by scientists, the table was redesigned a number of times by different scientists to sort elements in different ways. Eventually, they came up with the system that we have today, which you will see in science when you learn it at school or college etc.     The book is a work of non-fiction and is designed to teach you about each singular element found in the modern periodic table, the book has a factfile of each substance accompanied with a very detailed overview of it. The book is full of wonderful ultra high definiton images which make the work seem fresh and gives it an extra sense of quality.   The book really does teach you an awful lot about the elements, from Carbon to Einsteinium. Any budding scientist would love to add this to their collection I'm sure, the book is really interesting and is good for reading through thouroughly, just flicking through now and t

The graveyard book - Neil Gaiman

Like ghosts, spirits. Graveyards? Well read the book! Winner of the Carnegie medal 2010 this book is full of mystery. Can young  Bod, who has been raised in the graveyard escape the man Jack, who has already killed his family? An irresistible book, deserves to become a modern classic.  7/10 A masterpiece.

Skulduggery Pleasant: The Dying of the Light - Derek Landy

This was a little of a disappointment in some ways, the ending chapters were a bit confusing but that didn't stop the read from being utterly compelling in every way!   I would say that a different ending would have worked well but the starting potential of the book maybe created a sense that the read would be ore than it was... 9/10 Good things for comments.
